Dishes: Origins is a project dedicated to one thing – the history of the food we eat each and every day. The origins of meals from around the world are fascinating and full of curiosity, and our team is making an effort to gather information on this very page. The history of food is not a very precise science and there are bound to be different views and angles, so we try to represent those as well. In the end, all that matters is that the food comes to the table, hence these recipes that trace the history of a dish.
Our team consists of passionate researchers, editors and chefs, all well-versed in their respective areas of expertise.
This project has been in the works since 2020 and initially focused on dishes from Turkey, the cultural melting pot of the East and West, making it the perfect location to branch out of.
Our aim is to document many different dishes throughout their journeys through history, and we welcome you to follow us along the way.
